Diamond Education | Learn the 4Cs of Diamond Quality
Choosing the perfect diamond begins with understanding what makes each stone unique. At Isabella’s Fine Jewelry, we believe an educated client can make a more confident decision when selecting an engagement ring or fine jewelry piece.
Diamonds are evaluated using the globally recognized 4Cs: Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat Weight. Together, these characteristics help describe a diamond’s beauty, rarity, and value.
Cut
Cut is one of the most important factors in a diamond’s appearance. More than just the shape, cut refers to how well a diamond’s proportions, symmetry, and polish allow it to interact with light. A finely cut diamond displays exceptional brilliance, fire, and sparkle.
Color
Diamond color is graded on a scale from D to Z. D represents the most colorless diamonds, while diamonds further down the scale show increasing amounts of warmth. Many near-colorless diamonds provide a beautiful balance of appearance and value.
Clarity
Natural diamonds form under extreme conditions, often creating small internal characteristics called inclusions and external characteristics called blemishes. Clarity grades describe the visibility of these characteristics when viewed under magnification.
Carat Weight
Carat weight measures a diamond’s weight, not necessarily its size. Two diamonds of the same carat weight can look different depending on their shape and cut proportions.
Finding the right Diamond
The best diamond is not always the one with the highest grades it is the diamond with the right balance of beauty, quality, and value for you.
